I’ve been introduced to a fantastic book: Greater than Yourself, by Steve Farber. I was always sure of my role as a volunteer within the organization, to render willing service.
This book made me realize my role isn’t just to make those around me successful. My role is to make those around me better than I could ever be.
Not to say I did it.
Not to say I can make people great.
It’s to allow these people can see themselves, as what others see in them.
It’s to allow them to be bigger than their dreams.
It’s to allow them to see that their experiences, their knowledge, their skills MATTER.
I guess I knew about GTY before I had ever been introduced to Steve Farber, or his book.
But now I have a name for it.
If you feel like you’re great, make someone else greater. Pour your love and light and energy into someone you believe in, and you’ll be rewarded a hundredfold.
I was fortunate to have been introduced to this book while preparing to facilitate educational tracks at Tri Delta’s annual Collegiate Leadership Conference this February. Tri Delta is always encouraging me to be the best version of myself, and reading this book gave me tangible ways to help others do the same.
I hope you enjoy this book as much as I do.
