Because everyone is either still celebrating (or is uninterested in) the Raptors victory parade, let’s get right into business.
I hope everyone is having a wonderful day, except for the politicians who showed up in my hometown and tried to pretend that they care about the Toronto Raptors’ ability to “unite Canada” when they actively voted, or supported those who did vote, for programs that removed outdoor basketball nets and other “unsightly” sources of safe, fun activities for local Black youth. When you look at the Raps, our team resembles many of these kids. These youth might see themselves practicing for years to one day be able to wear the jersey of the team that invested in them. These kids continue to lose social and community services because it’s more convenient. Actions speak louder than words AND “candid” photo opps.
Celebrate responsibly!
